Opening Day, 2025

The twelfth of April featured clouds, cool temperatures, and steady rain. If it had been a bit windier, it would have been ideal bowling weather. Nevertheless, it proved an enjoyable afternoon.

Bowls Cornwall President (and Kensey member), Peter Prynne, opened the festivities with a short address to the assembled masses, and bowled the first wood of the outdoor season. Then he bowled the second wood, just to make sure. This was followed by all bowlers sending in one wood from the fringes of the green to see who would end up closest to the Spider. It’s largely just luck, but I may be saying that because I didn’t come close to winning.

The bar was open, we had an excellent tea, and we all enjoyed the opportunity to meet up again after a long winter.
